Hi there folks, in this post I want to share six of the hottest upcoming VR games that are due to both hit headsets and blow heads, in the coming weeks and months of 2020. Provided are various games available on various platforms for your consideration. So whatever VR gear you’re using, you’re bound to find something that can entertain you in the very near future.
Upcoming Game 1. Half-Life: Alyx
Developed and published by Valve, Half-Life Alyx will be released on 23/03/2020. Available to play via Stream and compatible across Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality devices. Set between Half-Life 1 & 2 your goal is to create an outright revolution against the ruthless Combine from the depths of City 17, where both yourself and your father Dr. Eli Vance have been relocated.
Half-Life Alyx is a full-length game built for VR and offers a truly immersive, highly detailed world to explore and conquer. Survival at its best, with plenty of action-packed scenes and jump-scares alike, to satisfy even the most veteran of gamers. An absolute must for Half-Life fans and VR lovers.
Upcoming Game 2. Marvel’s Iron Man
Exclusively on PlayStation VR Marvel’s Iron Man is available for pre-order on PlayStation Store and currently has a release date of 15/05/2020. Developed by Camouflaj and published by SIEE this action-packed adventure allows you to step into the role of one of the world’s most beloved superhero’s… Iron Man!
Suiting up to fight a formidable enemy, Tony must find a way to defeat the infamous and mysterious Ghost. A dangerous activist and highly skilled hacker that repurposes old Stark Industry Weaponry in this high octane, adrenaline-driven action-packed aerial adventure.
Upcoming Game 3. Paper Beast
Another PlayStation VR release that is due out Q1 of 2020. Paper Beast is an exploration game set in a beautifully vibrant VR world. Developed and published by Pixel Reef, it is an adventure simulation spawned from the vast memory of, wait for it… A Data Server! Yep, you did read that right, an entire ecosystem has emerged from years of lost code and algorithms creating the mysterious landscape around you. Interact with the far-stretching environment, in what looks to be a rather addictive alternative to the average VR experience.
Upcoming Game 4. Medal Of Honor: Above And Beyond
One for all of you Oculus Rift owners out there and certainly not one to be missed. Medal Of Honor: Above And Beyond throws you quite literally head first, into Virtual World War 2. Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, this installment of the much loved first-person shooter is set in Western Europe and promises to be as entertaining as it is realistic. Taking on the role of an OSS Operative, you must, of course, disrupt and ultimately topple the Nazi regime and can expect many factual based levels apparently including the major turning point of WW2, the Normandy beach landing. Release TBA.
Upcoming Game 5. Solaris Offworld Combat
Another teaser trailer for now but certainly one to pique the interest of Oculus VR lovers, especially as this is set to first be available on Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest. Brought to you by First Contact Entertainment Inc. Solaris Offworld Combat is looking promising to be a heavy hitter within the Sci-fi genre, combining a huge variety of devastating weaponry with ‘the fastest finger first’ type gameplay for added thrills. The release date currently expected for Solaris Offworld Combat is in Q2 of 2020.
Upcoming game 6. ALVO
So here is a gameplay clip of ALVO which, after previously being canceled back in 2018, will now hopefully be available Q1/Q2 of 2020. Available to play through Stream and compatible across Oculus and PlayStation VR. ALVO is set to be one heck of a First-Person Shoot-Em-Up, that can either be played from an Elite Spec Op’s perspective or from more of an outright ‘Run & Gun’ approach. Either way, I’m really looking forward to what this one has to offer and anticipate plenty of carnage to boot. Developed and Published by Mardonpol Inc.
So There You Have It
I really hope you’ve enjoyed watching the above presentations and reading up a little more on their expected release dates and content. I have to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to all the developers and publishers working tirelessly to bring us the games we so love and cherish, as without them we’d have, well… Nothing.
